National Press Day 2023

2 min read

Today is National Press Day. National Press Day is observed on November 16, every year, in India to celebrate the importance of a free and responsible press in a democratic society. The day is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of the Press Council of India in 1966, which acts as a regulatory body for the news media in the country.

Every year, the PCI decides a theme on which this special day is observed by people across the nation. The objective behind celebrating the day is to pay tribute to the contributions of the Press Council of India. Press Day is celebrated to also honour its contribution to making India a democracy.

Traditionally (as the mindset of top Media & Press Groups) it is reflected that the goal of the press is to bring to light any injustice faced by the people and highlights the malaise of the system. It is meant to help the government find solutions to these problems, while strengthening the values of the democratic system of governance. We at Digital News Media Group (Manesar.Today & Gurugram Today) feels that the role of News Media is manyfold. While highlighting the current events and digging stories for highlighting anomilities a major shift is required to highlight what all POSITIVE things are happening at all levels.

Instead of inducing fears and negativity, the responsible media and news reporters must also focus on Positive, Optimistic Citizen-centered reporting to inspire, innovate new ideas and inculcate health, happiness and harmony for the (w)holistic wellbeing of society, especially the NxtGen – the GenZ.
